Towards Quantum-Safe Security
Today, companies and organisations are confronted with the looming threat of the quantum computer, which will destroy our existing cybersecurity infrastructure. Awareness of the issue is steadily increasing, in pace with the progress towards a fully-fledged quantum computer. However, most information security professionals still lack an appropriate training. This workshop provides tools to assess, understand and answer the quantum threat. Its aim is to train champions inside companies, who will be able to manage the transition to quantum-safe security.
The workshop includes an introductory session, to briefly explain the quantum computer and setup the scene. This is followed by a session on quantum risk assessment. The various cryptographic tools required to counter the quantum threat are then presented. They comprise post-quantum cryptography, quantum random number generators and quantum key distribution. The workshop concludes with a quantum risk assessment exercise, which provides an opportunity for students to apply the concepts.
